TacOps Chief Wayne Mueller.
“We have just started to see the light at the end of the tunnel from an historic winter and already severe weather has begun to our south,” said Mueller regarding the current disasters around the U.S. “We almost need to get through this summit quickly so that the team can begin to deploy where it is needed. It does not look like we will get a break this year!”
Eddy Weiss, the team’s founder agreed as he opened the summit with an overview of the last year’s tragic weather along with a summary of the list of active shooter events, terrorist threats and even a look at the New Madrid Earthquake Zone.
Weiss explained that the team’s focus will be on the trending concerns set forth by the CDC and other agencies that have already begun to forecast what the team could encounter this year. These threats include more active shooter events, bio-terrorism, pandemics and even New Madrid activity.
The summit hold a lot more than just attempting to forecast what lies ahead. According to Lt. Joanne Smith who flew in from Pennsylvania for the meeting, the team will be seeking a more active role in training other agencies around the United States this year. Smith, who is a well-known animal rescue specialist, pointed out that the C4L TacOps Team holds a wealth of knowledge for agencies attempting to increase their knowledge base and abilities.

“Almost every member of this team carries a minimum of 15 years experience in their field,” explained Smith. “That makes this team an incredible training team.”
Smith arrived in Rock Island just the day before the summit having been on deployment with a large animal rescue situation on the eastern seaboard.
Ted Fillhart, who arrived from his home in North Carolina early Friday said he was excited about the summit and the introduction of new technologies and tools that the team would be utilizing in the coming year.
“We have a dozen or so new corporate partners that have given us the opportunity and responsibility to field test and introduce new tools for the field and we will be training on those new solutions all weekend,” Fillhart stated. Fillhart, who is the teams IT Trainer said that many of the new technologies the team has been given are not even out in the marketplace yet.
The Annual Summit is expected to continue through Monday whereupon the team members will return to their home states and await the next deployment or training opportunity.
